All About Garden Gazebo’s

If you enjoy your garden space and entertaining, consider upgrading your outdoor area with the

addition of a gazebo. Thankfully, the days of cheap plastic and metal self-assembly gazebos are long

gone. There are now an array of beautiful wooden, stylish garden buildings available for all tastes

and budgets. Your garden can be adorned by a traditional gazebo similar to the summerhouses in

the grand gardens of English stately homes. Or choose a more contemporary style, such as would fit

in a city garden. Either way, you will be spoilt for choice. Gazebos can fill a gap in your life and

garden and enhance both equally.

Here are four of my favourite styles and what they can do for you and your garden.

LEAN-TO GAZEBOS

These often overlooked garden additions still have a statement to make. They are often used in

small city gardens to provide shade or to join together two spaces within the garden. Lean-to

Gazebos are fantastic at acting as a conduit between indoor and outdoor spaces. Easy to construct

and with a choice of finishing material, these gazebos can either be rugged looking or softened by

choice of roofing material used. As you can see the roof due to its angled design, traditional roofing

materials such as slate can make a statement. Or you could be bold and use bamboo tiles for a more

“back to nature” look. A larger-sized lean-to can be utilised for covering a paved or decked area and

are perfect for accommodating a dining table to make an alfresco dining room.

STANDALONE GAZEBOS

If you want to make a big statement, a standalone gazebo can make a garden a fairytale space.

A sizeable standalone gazebo could become a dining space, a relaxation area or even a yoga space;

the choice will be yours.

You could choose to install it in a wooded, shaded part of a large garden or raise it on wooden

decking to give commanding views. Either way, these are stunning garden additions. Perfect for

hosting summer parties, or just as easily, a winter gathering with everyone sitting around a roaring

firepit swapping stories and enjoying the excellent company.

ASIAN STYLE GAZEBOS

Japanese and Asian style gazebos bring a whole new minimalistic look to gardens. With the addition

of water, pebbles and suitable greenery, you can create a tranquil zen area that whispers calm and

peace. The curvature of the roofs “jar” against the garden backdrop, and there is no mistaking the

styling. You could go very bold and have your gazebo raised within a koi pond, complete with a

Japanese bridge providing the link between the garden and the uniquely styled gazebo. Just imagine

relaxing with soft bubbling water, koi swimming around your gazebo, and Asian-inspired furniture

and plants. Who wouldn’t want that in their garden?
